Nnadozie named Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, Bounou wins Men’s award

20 November 2025

Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been crowned Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year, securing the award for an extraordinary third consecutive time.

At the 2025 CAF Awards, the Nigerian international who was crucial to the Super Falcons 10th WAFCON title continues to cement her place among the world’s elite with another standout year between the posts.

On the men’s side, Morocco’s and Al Hilal’s Yassine Bounou has been named Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year, adding another major honor to his distinguished career

Both winners reaffirm dominance on the global stage, delivering consistent excellence for club and country.

Delivered as part of the CAF Awards, the recognition marks a long-awaited triumph after several years in which many observers felt he was overlooked despite his spectacular performances for both club and country.

Bounou, widely regarded as one of Africa’s most consistent and accomplished goalkeepers, appeared in person at the CAF Awards ceremony to accept the honor.

The win comes after a period during which his absence from shortlist nominations puzzled analysts, especially given his standout displays in European competitions and his pivotal role in Morocco’s deep runs on the continental and global stage

In his acceptance speech, a visibly happy and proud Bounou thanked Morocco and expressed his gratitude to Morocco, his family, and his teammates, who have made his ongoing journey possible. He expressed pride to be with other goalkeepers who, according to him, deserved the awards as much as he did. He also thanked his teammates both in Al Hilal and Morocco, expressing how hard it would be to win the individual prize without them.
