The Federal Government has identified Nasarawa state as one of the leading states achieving sustainable food security inline with the renewed hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu Administration.
Minister of Agriculture and food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari stated this at the distribution of processing, logistics and post harvest equipment to VCDP Farmers in Nasarawa state.
Senator Kyari explained that Governor Abdullahi Sule’s political will and consistent action in promoting Agriculture, investment and the launch of NASACO Rice by Nasarawa state represent a bold institutional step towards structure commodity aggregation, value addition, market access and export competitiveness.
The Minister lauded the Agricultural initiative of the state Governor that led to the cultivation of over three thousand hectares of land and prompt payment of the the State’s counterpart fund for value chain development programme, VCDP.
The Governor explained that the federal government through the renewed hope Agenda has repositioned Agriculture as a strategic driver of food security, economic diversification, job creation and inclusive growth to subsistence food production.
Governor Sule noted the state has since keyed into Agricultural initiative to boost food production inline with the renewed hope Agenda of the Present Administration.
The National coordinator of the Value Chain Development Programme, VCDP, Hajiya Fatima Aliyu said the programme has so far being implemented in the nine states across the country, targeting small Scale farmers.
Highlight of the event was the distribution of 46 Royal tricycles, eighteen rice milling machines, fertilizer, farm inputs among others.
