Nigerian Woman Attempts 144-Hour Bible Reading Guinness World Record
A Nigerian woman, Habibat Salawudeen Ihiovi-Jack, has embarked on an ambitious attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest Holy Bible reading marathon, with a target of reading continuously for 144 hours.The record attempt, tagged “144 Hours in the Word,” began on June 22 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, and is expected to conclude on July 2, subject to the official guidelines of Guinness World Records.
Habibat, a member of The Summit Bible Church in Port Harcourt, described the challenge as more than a quest for global recognition. According to her, the initiative is aimed at inspiring people to develop a deeper relationship with the Bible while encouraging consistent engagement with God’s Word.
As the marathon progresses, she has already crossed the 100-hour mark, moving into the final stage of the endurance challenge. Throughout the event, she has been reading aloud while adhering to Guinness World Records regulations, which require participants to read continuously with only limited breaks permitted for essential needs
