Canada Become First Host Nation Eliminated from 2026 FIFA World Cup After 3-0 Defeat to Morocco
Canada’s historic 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign came to an end on Saturday after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Morocco in the Round of 16, becoming the first of the tournament’s three host nations to be eliminated.

Canada enjoyed several promising moments during the opening half. Still, it failed to find a breakthrough against Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, whose composed display helped keep the hosts at bay before Morocco took control after the interval. The defeat brings an end to a memorable World Cup campaign for Canada. The co-hosts reached the knockout stage for the first time in their history after recording their first-ever World Cup victory and advancing beyond the group stage, marking significant progress for the national team despite their elimination. Morocco, meanwhile, continued their impressive run on the global stage, extending their reputation as one of the tournament’s strongest sides.
