
Tinubu Receives Afreximbank Delegation at Presidential Villa
President Bola Tinubu on Tuesday received a delegation from the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja as part of ongoing engagements aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and investment across Africa.The delegation was led by the President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Afreximbank, Dr. George Elombi. Also present at the meeting were the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Finance and Economy, Adenike Laoye, and other senior government officials.
Although details of the closed-door meeting were not immediately disclosed, the engagement is expected to focus on deepening collaboration between Nigeria and Afreximbank in key areas including trade finance, industrialisation, infrastructure development and regional economic integration.
Afreximbank has remained a key financial partner to Nigeria, supporting major projects in sectors such as energy, manufacturing, healthcare and trade. The bank has also played a significant role in advancing the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) through financing and trade facilitation initiatives.The meeting underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with continental financial institutions to drive economic growth, expand investment opportunities and promote sustainable development.
