Nigerian Army Kills Over 300 Bandits in Major Zamfara Offensive
The Nigerian military has recorded one of its biggest victories against armed criminal groups in recent months after troops killed more than 300 suspected bandits during a large-scale operation in Zamfara State.
According to the Zamfara State Government, the two-day offensive was carried out in Gummi Local Government Area, where security forces targeted heavily armed groups responsible for kidnappings, cattle rustling and repeated attacks on rural communities.The State Commissioner for Information, Mahmud Muhammad Dantawasa, said the operation followed credible intelligence on the movement and hideouts of the armed gangs. He described the mission as a major breakthrough in the fight against insecurity in northwestern Nigeria.
Officials said the operation involved coordinated ground assaults, with troops engaging the criminals in several locations.
