
Tony Elumelu to Step Down as UBA Group Chairman After 12 Years
United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group Chairman Tony Elumelu will step down from his position after 12 years at the helm of the pan-African financial institution.The announcement marks the end of a leadership era during which the bank expanded its operations across Africa and strengthened its position in the continent’s banking industry.
Elumelu, a renowned businessman and investor, has been instrumental in driving UBA’s growth strategy while championing entrepreneurship through the Tony Elumelu Foundation.
His successor is expected to continue the bank’s focus on innovation, digital banking and regional expansion.The transition is expected to take place later this year, in line with the bank’s corporate governance framework.
