Man Utd annoyed by Barcelona’s attempts to renegotiate Marcus Rashford deal

Barcelona are trying to lowball a deal for Marcus Rashford, leaving Manchester United annoyed, having previously agreed to sell the striker for £26 million at the end of the season.

Marcus Rashford joined Barcelona on loan last summer after falling out of favour at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim.

Although the England international has been unable to cement a place in Hasni Flick’s starting line-up, Rashford has made 45 appearances, scoring 13 goals and registering as many assists across all competitions.

Barcelona’s interest in Rashford has cooled, according to the latest reports, with suggestions they could try to renegotiate a deal for the 28-year-old forward.

Friction grows between Man Utd and Barcelona over Marcus Rashford deal

United are annoyed by Barcelona’s stance on Rashford, despite agreeing to an obligatory sale of the academy graduate for £26m at the end of the season.

It may have been somewhat predictable that Barcelona would pull out of the deal before trying to nudge their way into further negotiations about a second loan deal, which would see Rashford run down his contract by a further year (expires in June 2028).

United sources have expressed irritation at Barcelona’s attempts to lowball them in negotiations.

The report adds that United have scheduled meetings this week to discuss outgoings they will have, hoping to add Rashford to that list, with a reluctance to bring him back to Old Trafford.

United must now try to come up with a plan for Rashford if a permanent move to Barcelona doesn’t materialise, even at a cheaper rate than previously agreed.

It won’t be easy to find a club willing to sign Rashford for £26 million on his current salary due to the expense of such a deal.

When is Marcus Rashford in action again?

Rashford will be hoping to start for Barcelona against Osasuna on Saturday.

Barcelona are currently 11 points clear of Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, with five games left to play.

With seven goals in La Liga, Rashford is three away from double figures, although he has a tally of 13 goals across all competitions.

Rashford will also be hoping to add to his tally of 13 assists.
