Osun Election: Amnesty International Warns Of Imminent Violence, Urges Authorities To Protect Voters

Amnesty International said it had received disturbing reports of violence, arrests of state government officials and alleged plans to influence the outcome of the election.

Amnesty International has urged Nigerian authorities to take urgent steps to prevent violence, intimidation and alleged interference ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for August 15, 2026.

The organisation, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the authorities must fulfil their obligation to promote, protect, respect and fulfil human rights as political tensions escalate across the state.
