Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday visited Kogi State, where she empowered 800 women and commissioned the newly completed Kogi State Treasury House as part of activities aimed at promoting economic development and improving public infrastructure.The First Lady was received by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, his wife, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, top government officials and other dignitaries during her one-day working visit to the state.

As part of the visit, Senator Tinubu flagged off a women empowerment programme under the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), through which 800 women from different parts of Kogi State received grants and empowerment items to support their businesses and improve their livelihoods.Speaking during the event, the First Lady reiterated her commitment to improving the welfare of women across Nigeria. She noted that empowering women remains one of the most effective ways to strengthen families, reduce poverty and stimulate economic growth at the grassroots.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the support provided, urging them to expand their businesses and create opportunities that would positively impact their communities.Senator Tinubu also commissioned the newly completed Kogi State Treasury House, describing it as an important project that would improve financial administration and enhance efficiency in the management of the state’s public finances.During the visit, the First Lady inaugurated the office of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency and inspected the National Community Food Bank Project for the North Central geopolitical zone, highlighting the importance of improving access to healthcare and food security for vulnerable Nigerians.

Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo expressed appreciation to the First Lady for choosing Kogi State for the empowerment programme, saying the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to supporting women, youth and small-scale entrepreneurs.

He assured residents that his government would continue implementing policies and programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, promoting economic opportunities and enhancing the welfare of the people.The Renewed Hope Initiative, championed by Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has continued to implement empowerment programmes across the country, providing financial assistance, business support and skills development opportunities for women, youths and other vulnerable groups.The Kogi visit marks another milestone in the initiative’s nationwide efforts to promote inclusive development, strengthen families and support sustainable economic growth through targeted empowerment programmes.
