
World Bank Approves $1.25 Billion Financing Package for Nigeria
The World Bank has approved $1.25 billion in development financing for Nigeria to support economic growth, create jobs and strengthen key sectors of the economy following a series of reforms introduced by the Federal Government.
According to the World Bank, the financing package is intended to help Nigeria accelerate economic recovery, improve opportunities for businesses and expand employment, particularly for young people. The lender noted that recent economic reforms have laid the foundation for stronger and more sustainable growth despite ongoing fiscal and social challenges.The funding will support programmes aimed at improving infrastructure, enhancing the business environment, strengthening public institutions and promoting private sector investment. World Bank officials commended Nigeria’s recent policy reforms, including measures to improve fiscal management, strengthen public finances and encourage investment.
