FULL LIST: Tinubu Sends 32 New Ambassadorial Nominees to Senate

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has forwarded another batch of ambassadorial nominees to the Senate, bringing the latest list to 32 candidates. This comes just days after he submitted the first set of three nominees for confirmation.

In two letters addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the President requested swift consideration for 15 career ambassador designates and 17 non-career nominees.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the new list includes four women among the career nominees and six women among the non-career nominees.

Among the non-career nominees are former presidential aide Ogbonnaya Kalu, Reno Omokri, former INEC chairman Mahmud Yakubu, former Ekiti First Lady Erelu Angela Adebayo, and former Enugu governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

Also included are former Katsina House of Assembly Speaker Tasiu Musa Maigari, former Plateau Commissioner Yakubu N. Gambo, former UBEC deputy executive secretary, and former Plateau senator Nora Ladi Daduut.

The list further features former Lagos deputy governor Femi Pedro, former aviation minister Femi Fani-Kayode, Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, former Oyo First Lady Florence Ajimobi, former Lagos Commissioner Lola Akande, former Adamawa senator Grace Bent, former Abia governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Senator Jimoh Ibrahim, and former ambassador to the Holy See, Paul Oga Adikwu.

For career ambassador and high-commissioner designates, the nominees include Enebechi Monica Okwuchukwu, Yakubu Nyaku Danladi, Miamuna Ibrahim Besto, Musa Musa Abubakar, Syndoph Paebi Endoni, Chima Geoffrey Lioma David, and Mopelola Adeola-Ibrahim.

Others are Abimbola Samuel Reuben, Yvonne Ehinosen Odumah, Hamza Mohammed Salau, Ambassador Shehu Barde, Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed Monguno, Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru, Ambassador Olatunji Ahmed Sulu Gambari, and Ambassador Wahab Adekola Akande.

The nominees are expected to be posted to countries with strong bilateral ties to Nigeria, including China, India, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, UAE, Qatar, South Africa, Kenya, as well as multilateral missions such as the UN, UNESCO, and AU. Their specific postings will be determined after Senate confirmation.

Last week, the President submitted Ambassador Ayodele Oke, Ambassador Amin Mohammed Dalhatu, and retired Colonel Lateef Kayode Are for screening. They are being considered for key missions in the United Kingdom, United States, or France.

President Tinubu has indicated that additional ambassadorial nominations will follow soon.
