Gombe Police Arrest Eight Suspected Armed Robbers, Internet Fraudsters
The Gombe State Police Command has arrested eight suspected members of a criminal syndicate allegedly involved in armed robbery and internet fraud across several communities in the state.The suspects were apprehended following investigations into a robbery incident reported on June 7, 2026, in Wuro Birji, Akko Local Government Area. According to the police, the operation was carried out after weeks of intelligence gathering and coordinated surveillance aimed at dismantling the criminal network.The command disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed the suspects were allegedly linked to a series of armed robbery attacks and online fraud activities carried out in different parts of Gombe State. Police operatives reportedly recovered several items believed to have been used in the commission of the crimes, while additional exhibits are expected to undergo forensic examination.
The Commissioner of Police reiterated the command’s commitment to combating violent crime and cyber-related offences, stressing that criminal elements would not be allowed to operate freely within the state. He urged residents to continue providing useful information that would assist security agencies in preventing crime and apprehending offenders.The police added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of the syndicate’s operations and identify other individuals who may have collaborated with the suspects. Authorities said efforts are also being made to recover additional stolen property and trace victims connected to the group’s alleged activities.The eight suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
