SRJ’ true calling lay in the temple of justice with it’s allure magneting him to the University of Lagos (UNILAG), where he earned his Bachelor of Laws (LLB) with honours degree.
His academic hunger further raged like wildfire, culminating in his return to the same institution (UNILAG) to possess both a Master of Laws degree (LLM) and a PhD. in Property Law.
This rigorous academic background armed him with the “legal shield” and analytical precision that characterize his present profound appreciation for societal order evident in his political and administrative disposition matched with his capacity for deep thinking transcending mere partisanship.
SRJ’S transition from a successful private legal career and academia into high- ranking governance, becoming a cornerstone of the progressive governance model in Osun State under the Rauf Aregbesola administration where he served eight years as Commissioner, his panache for excellence witnessed his transition from being the Commissioner of Regional Integration and Special Duties saddled with being the key architect in the push for South-West economic and social cohesion to becoming the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
He revolutionized the state’s legal framework, ensuring the rule of law was the bedrock of every government policy, thereby proving he could translate complex legal theory into practical pro-people governance.
In 2019, when the reward for hard work and commitment came his seamless elevation to serve as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria before his present role as the National Secretary of the APC which uniquely positions him as the bridge between grassroots mobilization and high-level policy formulation is certainly not a play of chances.
Senator Basiru was elected to reprepresent the Osun Central Senatorial District at the Senate.
